Garrett has also been a member of the Candela Salsa and Latin Jazz Orchestra, performed with the Symphony of the Americas, and myriad other musical ensembles. Garrett marched 5 seasons with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, serving as head drum major in his final season. In addition to this, he is one of three individuals in 75 plus years of Cavaliers history to receive the prestigious Rookie of the Year award, Cavalier of the Year award, and serve as head drum major.

In addition to performing, Garrett is an active educator in both the classroom and in the marching arts. Garrett previously served as the band director at Westglades Middle School and was a staff member for the Stoneman Douglas Eagle Regiment Marching Band. In addition to clinician work with South Florida band programs, Garrett is on the educational staff of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, working as a low brass instructor. Garrett had the honor of being the music caption head of Stryke Wynds for the 2024 season, helping lead them to a gold medal and setting the current record score for WGI World Class Winds.

Garrett received his undergraduate degree in music education from Florida Atlantic University. While at FAU Garrett was president of the Sigma Delta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha, drumline captain of the Marching Owls, and performed in several collegiate ensembles on a variety of instruments.

Garrett’s love for latin music, jazz, and funk is evident in his playing. His philosophy is that the tuba can shine in any ensemble and any style of music.
